A great par 5 to finish, with water, rough and trees from tee to green. Your second shot needs to be placed well to avoid the Norfolk trees 100m from the green. Your approach to the long flat green is best hit into the middle with slopes running off either side.

FOOD FOLK

When we look at the world’s problems, separateness explains a lot of it.

We separated humans from the animal kingdom and from the rhythms of the natural world. We separated what we eat and drink from where it comes from and how it is produced. We separated ourselves by race, by gender, by age, by politics, by religion. We created all these things that are separate to us, at odds with us, and seemingly in competition for survival. When in fact it is our sameness, our connection, to each other and to the natural world, that will save us.

Foodfolk’s mission is to reconnect our little corner of the world, with what we serve and how we serve it. Our beers are worthy of chatter, drawing passionate people together who cheer on our craft. Our food begs to be sliced, torn, scattered and shared shamelessly across our boisterous tables.

Our spaces house and celebrate our communities, and welcome all who wish to join in the fun. And our gardens, pantries and brew stores send a clear message that nature’s ways are understood and honoured here.

In turn, this humming ecosystem of produce, people and place inspires us to explore the ethos further. What beer should we brew next that is worthy of a crowd? What sweet treat will artfully combine the gifts of the season with the tastes of our faithful? What bold, brazen BBQ dish will break down pretensions and unite sticky-fingered strangers? And on it continues, in service to this spirit of connection. How we set tables, how we treat waste, who we recruit, how we train – it is all informed, inspired and measured by asking one simple question: Does this help us to connect people, produce and place?

Connection is our purpose. And we serve it to the fullest. For the glory of mighty Waikanae!
